How to maximize your event video footage across platforms

Video content is so flexible. Especially when it relates to events. For example, if you shoot 30 minutes of video, you end up with much more than just 30 minutes of video. Let’s break down a scenario.

Let’s say you used that time at an event to shoot attendee interviews. You can frame the questions from serious to funny and anything in between to get a variety of content. The first thing you can get out of that is a 15-30 minute video for YouTube or Facebook.

That long format video can also be rendered as audio-only and used for a podcast . Now you are grabbing your audiences attention in two locations without much additional work.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!!

That same 15-30 minute video can be converted to text so you can use it in a blog post ( there’s software that can do this pretty quickly without much tweaking on your end). So now you’ve covered your bases, right?

Let’s consider the number of publishing tools available. There are too many to list but let’s focus on the most utilized tools. We already mentioned Facebook and YouTube, podcast platforms and blog. Then there’s Instagram and Twitter which have more opportunity than most see.

Looking at Instagram first, you have the ability to post up to one-minute segments. So from that same 15-30 minute long video ., you can have 15-30 posts (a daily post at best) you can cut up to promote either the longer video or simply a small portion of that conversation.

BONUS THOUGHT:
YouTube is a search engine, so any of those short segments (or any longer than 1 minute) that speak to something that is often searched for, is the most powerful piece of content within a video.

As an alternative, you can also remove the audio, use a screenshot and post as is. Just make sure to plant a “SOUND ON” icon on your post. There’s much more you can do, but we will break down IG in a future post.

Using the same strategy we just laid out, you may have even more to utilize with Twitter. You can now post videos to Twitter, but I feel the platform is still most valuable with quick quotes/statements. Take your blog post and pull any and all impactful statements to use as standalone tweets.

And just like that, you have an incredible amount of content from just 30 minutes of video.
